A qualified and experienced manager leads the team at Cottingham Hall. The home is also conveniently situated 5 minutes away from the Hull station, with easy access to the motorway and public transport. Guests can also use our on-site parking facilities.

At Cottingham Hall, Residents can enjoy different lounge areas, which are furnished with comfortable and adaptive furniture. The bedrooms are well-equipped with specialist equipment and facilities to support the Residents, and they can be locked for privacy. There are also double bedrooms for couples or for those who prefer to share. The home has grab rails along the corridors to help residents move around, as well as wheelchair-friendly access, infection control flooring and a lift to all floors. We welcome pets to visit Cottingham Hall. Cottingham Hall has a 24-hour staff presence. All external doors have electronic keypads to ensure the security of the home. There is also a call bell system in every room so that residents can request assistance whenever they need it. Our secure and private garden invites the residents and their families to enjoy some fresh air or relax in the sun.

All our staff complete mandatory training and attend external training courses as needed.

STAFFING & MANAGEMENT

At Cottingham Hall Residential Care Home, We:

  • have appropriate recruitment procedures in place
  • ensure all relevant checks are carried out when we employ staff
  • ensure staff are registered with the relevant professional regulator or professional body where necessary
  • make sure that our staff have the right experience, qualifications and skills to support and care for you
  • make sure staff are properly trained, supervised, appraised and supported to provide care and treatment to all our residents
  • have a mechanism in place to deal with staff who are thought to be no longer fit to work in health and social care services.

ADMISSION

Prior to admission, we encourage each new resident to visit the home to satisfy themselves that Cottingham Hall is right for them.
One of our trained staff will also arrange a time to visit prospective clients and carry out a need’s assessment. This is essential to confirm that we can provide the care and support required.

CARE PLANNING

We prepare a personal care plan for each of our residents, which is regularly reviewed to make sure their needs are met. Residents, and where appropriate their families are involved as far as is practical in decisions regarding their care.

GENERAL PRACTITIONERS

GP’s from local practices visit the home on a regular basis, and residents may choose to retain their own family GP were possible, or alternatively we can make the necessary introduction to a new practice.

INFECTION CONTROL

To support good infection control, we ask that all visitors to the home make use of the alcohol gel dispenser situated in reception upon both arrival and departure.

MOVING & HANDLING

Our staff are trained to ensure that residents are moved in such a manner as to minimise the risk of injury to both the resident and members of staff involved. We ask that relatives and visitors do not attempt to lift or mobilise residents who are unable to do so for themselves, but that they request assistance from a member of staff.

FURNITURE & OTHER PERSONAL ITEMS

Whilst it is important that residents can personalise their rooms, we must ask that any items of furniture that you wish to bring into the home are discussed with the home manager.

GIFTS

Our staff are not permitted to receive hospitality or gifts including money from residents or their families at any time.

PRESCRIBED ITEMS

Residents medication is ordered, stored and administered by our care home staff. It is important that families and visitors do not give residents additional medication items or leave such items in the resident’s room.
