Cottingham Hall Residential Care Home has been caring for the elderly for many years and has established a reputation for excellent care.
The home offers person centred care in a warm, homely and friendly atmosphere. We provide long term residential care and short-term respite care. We Offer all our residents’ excellent levels of care and support that is right for them. Our services are tailored around you to meet your individual requirements.
We have dedicated staff that provide our residents with the support, care and encouragement they need. They tailor their approach to the individual needs and requirements of every resident.
Families and partners are also encouraged to be involved in residents home life as much as possible. We work in partnership with both our residents and their families to build trust and relationships that assist us in providing excellent care.

2. Visitors
VISITING TIMES
Visiting times are flexible 7 days a week. Relatives, friends and other visitors are encouraged to spend quality time at the home and engage in day to day activities in line with the preferences of the residents.All visitors are required to sign in and out using the visitor’s book in the reception area.
ADMINISTRATION
Cottingham Residential Home caters for residents who require personal care. We do not provide nursing care directly, although the district nursing service may be called upon. We provide care to both male and female residents.
ADMISSION
Prior to admission, we encourage each new resident to visit the home to satisfy themselves that Cottingham Hall is right for them.One of our trained staff will also arrange a time to visit prospective clients and carry out a need’s assessment. This is essential to confirm that we can provide the care and support required.
CARE PLANNING
We prepare a personal care plan for each of our residents, which is regularly reviewed to make sure their needs are met. Residents, and where appropriate their families are involved as far as is practical in decisions regarding their care.
GENERAL PRACTITIONERS
GP’s from local practices visit the home on a regular basis, and residents may choose to retain their own family GP were possible, or alternatively we can make the necessary introduction to a new practice.

PERSONALISED CARE & SUPPORT
Cottingham Hall Residential Care Home is an independent provider. We can provide an individual service to each of our residents around the clock. We are always looking for ways to improve our service, listening to feedback from our residents, their families, visiting professionals and our staff. We will:
- reduce any risks associated with the care, treatment and support we provide you by assessing your needs and plan and deliver your care so that you are safe, and your welfare is protected.
- Reduce the risks of poor nutrition and hydration
- Co-operate and share information with others involved in your care, treatment and support were appropriate
- Work together to respond to emergency situations.
SAFEGUARDING & SAFETY
Our prime concern is the safety and well-being of our residents.
- We will take every action we can to prevent abuse from happening in our service.
- We will respond appropriately when it is suspected that abuse has occurred
- We will ensure that government and local guidance about safeguarding people from abuse is accessible to all staff and put into practice.
- We will handle medicines safely and appropriately and ensure that they are prescribed and taken safely.
- We will manage, maintain and use medical equipment safely and ensure that all equipment is suitable, available, and used correctly.
- We will make sure that the home is suitable for carrying out the regulated activity and that the premises and grounds are adequately maintained and comply with all legal requirements and operational standards.
CHARGING FOR ADDITIONAL SERVICES
The home can assist with several optional services which are not covered by our weekly fee such as:
- Hairdressing
- Private chiropody
- Newspapers
- Dental service
- Optician
- Audiology
3. Our Activities
Our activities co-ordinator plans activities and exercise based on the preference and personal needs of our residents to help stimulate physically and mentally and assist them to enjoy life as fully as possible. Regular activities include:
- Arts and crafts
- Music and movement
- In-house entertainers
- Games
- Bingo
- Religious services
DAILY LIFE & SOCIAL CONTACT
Going into a Residential Care Home can be a very difficult time for both the resident and their families, our aim is to ensure that ‘life quality’ is promoted with meaningful and enjoyable activities and continued social contact.
Cottingham Hall is designed to provide care, all bedrooms are tastefully decorated to give a relaxed feel. Rooms are fully furnished with flat screen TV, and residents can personalise their room to make it home from home. There is a 24-hour wireless call system in each room, should assistance be required. The home also offers a lovely extensive rear garden ideal for sitting out, reading a book and enjoying a bit of peace and quiet.
Our fully trained team work with both residents and their families to assess a resident’s capabilities and agree a pro-active care plan designed to promote independence as much as possible.
CARE HOME CUISINE
We pride ourselves in providing traditionally home cooked high-quality nutritional meals. We have a varied menu prepared by our qualified catering staff. Special diets are catered for and we provide a range of drinks and snacks throughout the day.
